Overview

History & Status Quo

  • Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering was established in August, 2002 under the authority of the Ministry of Education for the demand for IT professionals, raising the competitiveness of IT industries, and training excellent IT professionals.
  • Master’s program was established under the authority of the Ministry of Education in August, 2008.
  • Currently, there are 13 classes including 8 four-year college classes, 1 two-year college class, 2 continuing education classes, and 2 graduate school (Master Program) classes in academic year 2009-2010.

Objectives and Features

  • Our objective is to train excellent IT professionals and raise the quality of domestic IT industry workers.
  • We emphasize both theory and technology in teaching and give weight to the training of students’ independent thinking and creativity.
  • We place importance on the application of the latest technology, and enrich laboratories of Bioinformatics, Network Communications, Network Multimedia, Integrated Circuits Design, and Information Security for students to test and verify what they have learned.
  • All of the faculty members are doctors with plentiful academic research and experiences in enterprises and have first-class quality of teaching and research.

Curriculum Plan

  • We attach importance to impart the latest information technology while teaching. The courses include Algorithm, Data Structure, Programming Language, System Program, Operating System, Digital System, Electronic Circuits, Microcomputer Applications, Database, Internet, Image Processing, Wireless Network, etc.
  • We provide special project courses for teachers and students to do research of special topics on information to strengthen students’ hardware and software practice competence for the preparation for further research.
  • We take gradual and learning-by-doing approach in teaching and train students to be excellent IT professionals possessing both theory and technology.

After Graduation

  • Students can work in IT industries straightly after graduation and become professionals possessing both theory and technology.
  • Students can become IT experts in the government or institutions via Senior and Junior Examinations and Professional and Technical Examinations.
  • Students can go further study in domestic or overseas graduate schools to become scholars or experts of IT field in the future.

Future Development

  • We refer to and weigh up the current domestic and foreign IT situation and needs of future development and recruit experts from all areas to be our faculty to raise the quality of our teaching and research.
  • Tying in with the research and development of the latest information technology, we train more and better IT elites via advanced curriculum plan and teaching.
  • We strengthen technological cooperation with IT industries and establish graduate school to let our department become the heavyweight of research, development and promotion of information technology of university and industry liaison system.
